Has Spring Sprung? The Tree Bumblebee Thinks So

Has Spring Sprung? The Tree Bumblebee Thinks So

While undertaking a survey along the Ogmore River this morning, there was definitely a feeling of Spring in the air. Lesser celandine was flowering, blue tits were singing and a tree bumblebee made a brief appearance. Tree bumblebees (Bombus hypnorum) were first recorded in the UK in 2000; they have been expanding their range throughout the country since then. It has a close affinty with urban and woodland habitats.
