Dr Martin Page joined David Clements Ecology Ltd as a Senior Ecologist in 2010. A botanist by training, he was previously a Consultant Ecologist at AMEC Earth and Environmental (UK) Ltd in Chester and was a member of the 2007 Countryside Survey.
Martin studied botany at the University of Swansea and received a PhD for a thesis on the phytosociology of British neutral grasslands. After completing his PhD Martin was responsible for analysing the National Vegetation Classification's (NVC) data from mesotrophic grasslands. He subsequently worked as a botanical surveyor for the former Nature Conservancy Council, undertaking surveys in Shropshire, Devon, Cumbria, the Yorkshire Dales and West Sussex.
Martin has written four books about gardening, including two about the genus Paeonia and one about citrus fruit. He had written numerous articles for magazines and edited several books for other authors. An experienced botanist, Martin carries out botanical, soil and NVC surveys for the company. He also undertakes a range of protected species surveys and has great crested newt licences from the Countryside Council for Wales and Natural England.
Martin is responsible for the day-to-day management and running of the company, including recruitment, personnel, sales, marketing and work-flow.
