SINCs in Merthyr Tydfil

  • SINCs-in-Merthyr-Tydfil-1

DCE Ltd was commissioned to identify and characterise a series of candidate SINCs in Merthyr Tydfil county borough, starting with a desk-based study using existing records in 2002 (Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, 2002).  This was followed in 2005-2007 by detailed field surveys to fully validate and define a series of over 60 proposed SINCs, and to identify defensible boundaries etc.  Between 2012 and 2013, DCE undertook surveys of further habitats, such as conifer woodlands, which has not been previously considered as SINCs, and identified which sites could be designated.
