THE AUTECOLOGY OF THE HORNET ROBBERFLY (Asilus crabroniformis L.) IN WALES

A three-year research contract carried out jointly with the late Dr Peter Skidmore for the Countryside Council for Wales into the biology and ecology of this Biodiversity Action Plan ‘Priority Species’ (CCW, 1997-1999). This study documented egg-laying behaviour for the first time, and clarified the larval development and habits. Research into flight habits, longevity, territoriality and feeding behaviour were also carried out, and strategies for the conservation of the species were developed.
