Paul Hudson qualified in 1998, obtaining a degree in environmental science and a post-graduate diploma in conservation management.  During the period 1998-2002 he held a range of contract positions in the environmental field both in the UK and abroad. These included periods as a nature reserve warden for the Wildlife Trusts of London and Hertfordshire & Middlesex, a ranger in the Lea Valley Country Park, a conservation officer with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers and as a field botanist working for environmental consultancies such as Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick and AltEcology. During the period Oct 2002 to May 2004 he worked as an ecologist with the Capita Gwent Consultancy, and in May 2004 he joined David Clements Ecology Ltd as a senior ecological consultant.

 

Paul Hudson is a fully competent botanical surveyor with a wide range of experience in general habitat survey. He is also experienced in ornithological, mammal and herptile survey, including work with protected species such as bats, otter, dormouse, water vole, badger and great crested newt.  He is licensed to deal with a range of protected species, including bats, barn owl, dormouse, great crested newt and white-clawed crayfish. He is conversant with current wildlife legislation and policy, as well as with a wide range of techniques for the mitigation of development impacts and the enhancement and management of habitats for wildlife.
